The Meaning of Math

Don’t wait up for me, my dear,
I am counting in my room
The multitude of galaxies,
While the moon above me looms.

Yes, the numbers swirl in droves tonight,
Singing praises of the skies,
The universe collides like kaleidoscopes,
And yet another discipline completes a tie.

Math and science,
English and art,
Dance beneath the stars
With a single beating heart.

None are superior,
And all of them kind,
Working together,
With a similar mind.

What’s that you ask me?
I’m just attempting to derive.
And through calculations discover,
What makes a man alive.

It’s a question of y,
With a variable comprised of x,
And a couple questioned numbers,
And some dramatization effects.

Yes, my dear, it’s time…
Time to sleep tonight.
Math can wait another day,
Here the moon will share its light.
